Nothing makes wine lovers more garrulous and alien than the exotic metaphors used to describe subtleties of taste on the palate. But describing the nuanced impressions of a particular wine is central to communicating our delight or disappointment with a given vintage. If we can steer clear of elitism and pretension, finding descriptors for the complexities of our favorite wines adds an enriching dimension. Dialogue about our impressions as we sip extends the blessing into a shared experience and that’s what this series is all about.

Neighbors

Featuring portrayals of people from around the globe, visual artist Eric Mize created the “Neighbors” series as an attempt to reflect the joy of finding personal connection with people of exotic traditions. Each painting seeks first to celebrate the wonder of a given culture while inviting the viewer to consider dilemmas facing that people group and what one might do to engage.
